Safeguarding is a term used in the United Kingdom and Ireland to denote measures to protect the health, wellbeing and human rights of individuals, which allow people - especially children, young people and vulnerable adults - to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

Further safeguarding information can be found on the North Yorkshire County Council website, and via the North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and North Yorkshire Safeguarding Adults Board.

We each have a responsibility to take appropriate action when we know or suspect an adult or child may be at risk of abuse or neglect.
